Bespoke Smile, a dental practice based in Marlow, has received a focused follow-up inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC assesses providers of social care in line with five key questions.

These allow it to assess whether a service is

  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Caring
  • Responsive
  • Well led.

In January 2023, a comprehensive inspection of Bespoke Smile found the provider was in breach of several regulations set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2008. Inspectors also found it was not providing well led care.

Follow up inspection

When one or more of the five key criteria the CQC examines is not met, the service that’s been inspected must create an action plan that sets out the improvements it will make.

The CQC will then inspect again after a reasonable interval, focusing on the areas where improvements were required.

The CQC carried out a follow up inspection of Bespoke Smile in February 2023 to review the actions it had taken and confirm that the practice was now meeting legal requirements.

It found:

  • There were effective systems and processes in place to ensure good governance, in accordance with the fundamental standards of care
  • Recruitment procedures were effective and would ensure that only fit and proper persons were employed. They would also ensure specific information was made available about each employee.
