The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Chandos Lodge Nursing Home ‘requires improvement’ following an inspection that took place in August.

Chandos Lodge is a care home that provides personal and nursing care to people living with dementia, and had 30 residents at the time of the unannounced inspection.

The CQC spoke with 10 people who used the service, 17 relatives of residents and 14 members of staff. A variety of records and files were also reviewed, including those related to compliments and complaints, accidents and incidents, safeguarding, staff training and health and safety.

The CQC assessed Chandos Lodge Nursing Home against five key criteria to judge whether it is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. While the CQC rated Chandos Lodge ‘good’ in the effective and caring categories, safe, responsive and well-led were deemed ‘requires improvement’.

Chandos Lodge therefore received an overall rating of ‘requires improvement’.
