The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated care agency Bespoke Care At Home ‘inadequate’ following an inspection that took place earlier this year.

Bespoke Care At Home offers personal care to people living in their own homes, including people with dementia, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and sensory impairments. At the time of its inspection in February 2022, Bespoke Care At Home was providing care to 161 people.

According to the CQC’s report, the registered person in charge of the service ‘did not operate effective quality assurance systems’. This meant they ‘did not ensure compliance with the fundamental standards’ and could not be confident about ‘identifying when the fundamental standards were not met’.

Inspectors reviewed their findings on Bespoke Care At Home against the CQC’s five criteria. These assess whether services are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

While Bespoke Care At Home was rated ‘requires improvement’ in three areas, both safety and leadership were deemed ‘inadequate’. The provider was therefore rated ‘inadequate’ overall and has been placed in special measures.

This means the CQC will keep the service under review. If the regulator does not propose to cancel Bespoke Care At Home’s registration, the provider will be re-inspected within six months to check for significant improvements.
