We have received a response to our report on cancer service during COVID from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
We wanted to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic had affected people’s experiences of accessing cancer services and treatment. Working with local cancer services, we developed a question set. Then we spoke to 10 people about their experiences during in depth telephone interviews.
Our report made a number of recommendations to Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. These including the need to provide patients with relevant up to date information on certain topics such as waiting times.
In the response, Andrew McLaren, Chief Medical Officer said:
I feel the report supports the good work of the cancer services, highlights good communication and empathy of staff who were strongly challenged during the COVID pandemic. We look forward to using the feedback to make changes to continue the care for patients and families of [Buckinghamshire]
