The government has placed tight controls on sharing information about the vaccine roll-out.
The best place for information about the vaccine is the NHS website. Those pages will always have the latest information. If the information you need is not there, please assume that the information is not yet available. Your GP cannot give you any more information at this time.
When the vaccine is available, it will be given according to the government’s priority list (this link was updated on 04/01/2021).
The NHS will let you know when it’s your turn to have the vaccine. It’s important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then.
At Healthwatch Bucks we understand that people are anxious and that they want to get the vaccine as soon as possible. Primary care services, including general practice, are under immense pressure. Winter is a busy time normally and the vaccine rollout is a huge task. Delivery of the vaccine comes on top of the increased burden of treating COVID-19 in the community.
We can only assume that the government is concerned that releasing too much information about the vaccine programme will overwhelm these services. The government and the NHS will want to avoid a surge in telephone enquiries or in people attending general practice looking for the vaccine.
Please be patient. Wait to be contacted. We know it’s hard.
