Buckinghamshire Mind’s aim is to promote community resilience. They do this by reducing isolation through peer support across Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire.
Friends in Need is a valuable, free service. It is for people who are experiencing depression, anxiety and loneliness.
The power of Friends in Need magical peer support is needed more than ever during these current challenging and uncertain times. We have organically and creatively evolved into a virtual source of support and friendship. This is for existing and new members alike.
Our members have been instrumental in shaping our virtual service. We have been amazed by all the ideas that have blossomed! This has allowed us to provide a plethora of virtual activity. This helps us support one another and manage our own wellbeing during these challenging times.
We have around 3 different activities per day on our timetable all based on the five ways to wellbeing. To learn; to give; to connect; to be active and to notice. You can take up German or Sign Language, attend our Mix and Mingle for our younger members, practise Mindfulness, listen to sacred sounds, try Yoga or Tai Chi, take part in quizzes, learn to manage your own wellbeing, review books… all from the comfort of your own home! And sometimes, all we need is to have a cuppa and a chat every day with friends. You can make new friends too!
This week, we have been closely following government guidelines and introduced our first, social distancing walks. It has felt so good to meet up safely!
