Road Farm Countryways CIC, a care farm situated just outside of Great Missenden, is one of the early members of the Countrymen UK network. It has been operating a successful twice-monthly Countrymen’s Club at the farm until ‘lockdown’.
As a result of the coronavirus, the network is now focussing its attention on the wider community by providing outreach services, aimed at keeping men and their family carers up-to-date with countryside news and services. As well as keeping them motivated and stimulated during the lockdown.
Road Farm Countryways is now looking to extend this service to the local communities in our area.
The Outreach Service involves providing resources like home activities, photographs, quizzes, even a regular phone call to help these men and their families feel motivated and stimulated. Also to feel connected with the seasons, the farm and others.
The idea behind the Countrymen UK network is that all men, regardless of their mobility or cognitive levels, have the opportunity to participate in healthy, active and social activities in a safe and supported countryside or farm environment. This is to the benefit of their physical and mental wellbeing. The network also supports family carers. Further North in the County Animal Antiks based in North Marston is also part of the network providing outreach support.
Road Farm Countryways CIC is also offering a special space to those suffering stress and bereavement following the Coronavirus epidemic, and to help people feel able to “Step Outside” again.
Do you know someone who would appreciate this support, or are you part of an organisation that could help spread the word about what Countryways can offer, if so please contact Road Farm Countryways CIC by phone on 01494 862413 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
