Bucks County Council (BCC) is planning to move residential short breaks services from Seeleys House to Aylesbury Opportunities Centre.

What is the plan?

The plan is to move the service to Aylesbury Opportunities Centre if it agreed. BCC will make and agreement so that both health and social care clients can use residential short breaks.

How will this affect Aylesbury day services?

Setting up the new service would mean temporarily closing Aylesbury Opportunities Centre for 12 months. This is so some rebuilding can take place. BCC will support people who are using Aylesbury day services to find other day activities that meet their needs.

Will there be any disruption to the residential short breaks service?

We aim to keep any disruption to a minimum. A residential short breaks service will continue at Seeleys House in Beaconsfield while the renovations in Aylesbury are being completed. We will support service users and their parents/carers to move to the new service when it opens in August 2020.

Why move to Aylesbury?

The service is currently sited at Seeleys House in Beaconsfield. It offers overnight breaks for up to eight adults at a time. Seeleys House is not suitable for renovation and is too expensive to maintain. Aylesbury Opportunities Centre is under-used and offers an affordable opportunity to improve the service.

What do you want to know from me?

This consultation will ask:

  • What do you think about the move?
  • Is there anything you would like BCC to consider?
  • Do you have any suggestions?

How can I give my views?

BCC will be running 4 events to talk about these plans. You will have a chance to ask any questions and make your voice heard. You don’t need to book, just show up.
