Healthwatch Bucks is proud to present our 2017-18 Annual Report. This has been another demanding but rewarding year. Last year over 1000 people gave us their views on health and social care and we made sure that those in charge listened to what you had to say.
We ran a wide variety of projects to hear from different sections of the community. Some of our projects took us out and about to talk to local residents about community pharmacies. For other projects, we went to where services are delivered to find out about your experiences of GP surgeries, care homes and a hospital pharmacy.
To ensure we heard from those whose voices we seldom hear, we developed questionnaires to contact people about their views on the telecare services they receive from Buckinghamshire County Council. We also worked with partners to reach out to under-represented sections of the community. We worked with Talkback to listen to the views of those with learning disabilities on what helped them and what stood in the way of having their annual health checks. We also started working with Bucks MIND to talk to people who self-harm to understand their experiences with Accident and Emergency.
Over the year, we’ve:
- Written 15 reports on health and social care issues
- Attended 38 events to talk to you and listen to your views and experiences
- Collected 820 pieces of feedback
- Spoken to 224 people in care homes about the quality of care
- Attended 194 meetings about health and social care to represent you
This is a mere snapshot of our work so please take this opportunity to read about all that we have achieved and to see what our plans are for the next 12 months. We would also be delighted if you could also join us at the launch of our Annual Report 2017/18 at Wycombe Wanderers Stadium on Wednesday 25 July, 2018, 5.30-7.30pm.
