You may have read or heard the recent news about the “failure” of Southern Health Foundation Trust to investigate a number of unexpected service user deaths. The story was first published by the BBC and Southern Health have since issued a response.
While we are concerned by this news it is important to stress that the report seen by the BBC was a draft and that the extent of Southern Health Trust’s responsibility for, and involvement with, the cases in question is not fully explained. We also don’t currently know how many of these cases involved service users from Buckinghamshire.
Southern Health Trust deliver a small number of services in Buckinghamshire. These include the Community Learning Disability Service for Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Chiltern and South Bucks; the Bucks Assertive Outreach Team and The Ridgeway Centre Assessment and Treatment Unit. Our local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Aylesbury Vale and Chiltern, have responsibility for purchasing these services from Southern Health Trust.
If you have any feedback about Southern Health Trust services, good or bad, please give us a call on 0845 260 6216 or email us at email@example.com and we will share your experience with the CCGs as appropriate.
Southern Health Trust has requested that you please call the NHS on 0300 003 0025 if you are directly affected by this issue.
