Wycombe MP Steve Baker met with the new Healthwatch Bucks team on Fri 21 Jun to learn more about the new organisation and sign up as a volunteer.

Steve Baker has a keen interest in local social and Healthcare services. He said:

We need to hold health and social care providers to account on behalf of local people. I fully support the aims of Healthwatch Bucks and would like to get involved as a volunteer myself.

Healthwatch Bucks launched in April to involve local people get the best out of their local health and social care. They will do this by influencing social and healthcare policy and ensuring that service providers do what they say they will. As part of a national network of local groups, Healthwatch Bucks also helps people across the county to find their way through the complex and changing social and healthcare system.

Healthwatch Bucks is glad to have enlisted the MP as a volunteer since it depends almost entirely on volunteers to carry out most of its crucial roles in finding out and reporting on the successes and shortcomings in health and social care throughout Buckinghamshire.

The number of issues which Healthwatch Bucks can address depends to a large extent on its success in recruiting volunteers and is looking to attract as many volunteers as possible.
